Active learning refers to techniques where students do more than simply listen to a lecture. Students are doing something including discovering, processing, and applying information. Many students think that school is something scaring and boring place, it can be a burden to the students and they won’t comfort study in the class, so they cannot concentrate to the lesson that is given by their teacher. To solve this problem education practicioners found new method that they think more educative, this method is called active learning method. The point of active learning method are active, effective, and fun learning.

Active learning techniques can occur in class or outside of class. Active learning can be used with all levels of students from first year through graduate students. Teaching a mass class does not prohibit the use of active learning techniques; in fact, they may be especially important to promote interest and learning in a mass class. Below, I offer a few examples of in-class active learning techniques used in small and large classes, and with all levels of students.

Role of teacher in Active Teaching-Learning:

Plan and design step of teaching learning scenario which will be executed in his/her class.
Make teaching and learning strategy.
Imagine what kind of interaction between teachers and students.
Find out the ability and talent of their students thereby teacher could recognize strong side and weak side from the students, it become equal in quality and balance for teacher to treat their students.
evaluate students transparently and wisely, which include cognitive, affective and psychomotoric.
do many kinds of assessment such as written test, debate, presentation, make a project, games, survey.

Role of students in Active Teaching-Learning

Use ability of think
make a simple research
study a new concept and make a new idea
problem solving
use the time efficiently to study
do some kinds of cooperative learning.
